The Fosters Belmar Pro
is more than just a surf contest.

Surfers and fans alike come back to the 18th Ave. Beach on the same weekend each year because they know of Belmar’s welcoming reputation. They know that each year the town opens it’s doors for parades, the AVP Volleyball Tournament, the famous Belmar Seafood Festival, and this annual surf event. Traveling pros recognize that this contest has a great history of waves. In the past, they’ve come from Central America, Australia, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Europe, South Africa, and all over the US. It’s a chance for young East Coast upstarts and New Jersey pro surfers to shine. Thousands of families from all over the state come down to catch professional athletes in action. In addition to the Belmar Pro, this weekend will also feature the ASP-sanctioned Fins Pro Junior, the Longboard Pro and the Womens Pro.

Even beyond Labor Day, there’s one more great event at the Jersey Shore. The sponsors invite the spectators to become a part of the action. In recent years, those who can’t be at the beach for the full three days have followed along on the web and our social networking outlets.

Mayor Pringle and the Town of Belmar welcome you and your family to pull up a chair. Enjoy the contest, the demos, the music, and art and everything this annual event and the town of Belmar have to offer.

At the start of May, twenty-eight of the world’s most talented, most versatile, and most progressive kayakers will compete in a multi-disciplined, 6-stage competition on spectacular whitewater across Quebec . The Whitewater Grand Prix brings together this All-Star group in a unique event whose images and coverage we hope can help kayaking gain more mainstream exposure.
The event includes past and present World Champions of whitewater racing and freestyle, as well as many other present and future stars. With 10 countries represented and many rivalries between the competitors, we all look forward to seeing how each stage plays out.
After three races and three freestyle contests the Grand Prix World Champion will be crowned.

Deerfield River Fest – July 30, 2011 – Charlemont, MA

American Whitewater and F.L.O.W. started the Deerfield River Festival in 1994 to celebrate the successful dam relicensing process that took place in 1993.

The event focuses on bringing people to the area to enjoy a weekend of outdoor activities while showcasing whitewater paddlesports and raising funds and membership for American Whitewater. The main festival activities take place on Saturday afternoon/evening and provide entertainment for both paddlesport and non-paddlesport enthusiasts young and old.

The festival site will be bustling with activity including a whitewater marketplace, live entertainment, beer, and a silent auction with awesome outdoor gear. The Deerfield River Festival is a critical fundraiser for American Whitewater, and is one of our premiere events.

All proceeds from the festival support American Whitewater’s conservation and access work throughout the Northeast. Come out and join us for a weekend of great paddling, exciting competitions, live entertainment, and the infamous silent auction.

Not for the faint of heart, frail of body, or weak of mind, the Rugged Maniac 5K was designed with the assistance of Navy SEALs* to push your limits and determine how rugged you truly are.

This five kilometer course loops through the woods and a motocross track. That’s right, a motocross track, built for dirt bikes, and we’ve amped it up with barbed wire, fire, tunnels, mud pits, pools of water, barricades, cargo nets, scrambles, swinging pendulums, and a host of other obstacles that make this course one rugged gauntlet of glory. When it’s all done, you will have the right to declare “I am a Rugged Maniac” … and you will have a t-shirt bearing this quote to prove it. So come on out, push your limits and then celebrate with live music, food, beer, fun natured contests, friends and other likeminded maniacs. We will also have a pee-wee course available for children under 13 (no preregistration necessary).

Mount Washington Climb

The sukLess team will be climbing Mount Washington on Sunday. Two years ago summit conditions were minus 30 and visibility less than 50 feet.
